Who we are

Leadership Matters is an Educational, Mentoring and Leadership Development organisation with a primary focus on developing leaders in Africa. Our primary focus is to contribute to the development of leadership and leaders on the African continent. We aim at promoting ethical structures and principled servant-modelled leadership in individuals and organisations.

Leadership Matters was created with several key goals in mind;

  • To incorporate values into individual and organisational leadership development process
  • Helping individuals and organisations become more effective and efficient in various areas of expertise.

How We Began

Dr Edward A. Addison, having served in the capacity of a Pastor and Theologian in the United Kingdom for more than 35 years, bears a burden to give more of his time and expertise to Africa, particularly Nigeria, his country of origin. Dr Edward Addison has proceeded to gather a professional and impeccable team, many who have served in his leadership for years and who share the same passion and drive to contribute meaningfully to the leadership narrative on the African continent.

Our Vision

Effective Servant-Leadership for Positive Global Change
Leadership Matters has a solid servant-modelled ideology, which is indicative in the work environment of the team as well as our principled contribution to how we view leadership. At Leadership Matters we embrace the following fundamental principles:
1. Leadership in the business environment should be viewed as an opportunity to invest in human development that would inevitably affect the quality of people’s character and the productivity of the organisation.
2. Leadership in governance should have a better narrative of transparency, integrity and productivity.
3. Leadership in society is primarily meant to be altruistic – in other words, selfless and executed with a mindset of equity.

Our Mission

To establish a leadership organization which will influence both the public and private sectors primarily in Africa and around the world. We aim to achieve this through the following:
1. Championing personal integrity, a strong sense of responsibility and hard work.
2. An open and relaxed environment for everyone to contribute efficiently and effectively in the organisation.
3. Understanding the decision making process based on ownership and freedom of expression.
4. Encouraging the use of talents and gifts, whilst giving room for self-expression.
5. The realisation that leadership is a lifelong process in development.

Our Goals

• Leadership Matters aims to provide training programmes, consultancy, conferences, seminars, podcasts, and workshops, which would promote servant
• To establish a principled mentoring programme for upcoming and budding leaders.
• To execute Leadership Matters masterclasses as a way of informing leadership principles.
• To improve sustainable community-based leadership in Africa and globally as a means of contributing to the leadership dialogue.

Leadership Development Process
It is a fact that growing leaders takes time and is more akin to a marathon than a sprint. I have discovered in my thirty-five years of leadership development that it requires three main things: clarity of objectives, consistent application, and concrete evaluation. A lack of awareness of these three things far too often leads to a haziness in developing leaders. It is our primary goal at Leadership Matters to help you become the Leader God wants you to become.
Like a shepherd God led his people (Ps7:52). We believe that God himself is the pre-eminence in modelling leadership. In Genesis he makes man in his likeness (nature) and thereafter he provides a conducive environment for him to thrive, multiply and be fruitful in (nurture) (Genesis 1:28). We believe that both nature and nurture are important in the process of developing sound leaders. We apply a Theocentric and Christcentric model to our theory and praxis of leadership. We believe you cannot take spirituality out of leadership.
It is our objective to walk with you to become the leader God wants you to become. We do this by asking you to reflect on one primary question- what is your primary calling? Then as fellow travellers striving to become better leaders, we set out clear objectives, and concrete evaluation for you to apply yourself consistently to with the intention of helping you to become a better leader.

Mentoring
The Leadership Matters Mentoring programme utilises practical and proven strategies in enabling individuals to reach their full potential in order to positively impact their networks, their objectives and their communities.
The programme is delivered by a team of mentoring and development experts, through individual and group sessions, specifically designed to equip mentees in achieving high-impact personal and professional strategy goals.
Group mentoring is an innovative way that enables mentees to develop in more meaningful ways, using the group setting to realize improved productivity, enhanced growth and overall improvement for their leadership journey. Group mentoring sessions effectively strengthen the relationships between all participants involved, and encourages a natural and unique exchange of ideas, information, advice, and support from within the team-based environment.
